Mission
Develops total force military personnel policies and programs, and provides departmental oversight of the Military Departments, Joint Staff, and other DoD Components on assignments, separations, military decorations and awards, and force management to ensure compliance with statutes, executive orders, and existing policies that sustain the All-Volunteer Force.
Nominations: Develops military personnel policies and programs in addition to providing advice and support to the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness on all matters relating to the development, appointment, promotion, and retention of officers in the grades of O6 and below.
The Total Force Manpower and Resources directorate supports the Military Departments and Defense agencies, field activities, combatant commanders and other DoD components by providing policy and proactive oversight of Total Force (active and reserve military, government civilian and contracted services) requirements development to achieve a Total Force manpower mix that enables required operational and support capabilities while minimizing unnecessary costs and maximizing monies available for other compelling needs..
Vision
Ensure military personnel policies and programs support the Secretary of Defense, Military Departments, and Combatant Commanders in managing their uniformed personnel while executing their statutory and assigned roles and missions.
