Mission

Provides advice and support to the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness on all matters relating to joint officer management, the promotion and appointment of all Active and Reserve Component officers, and the development and retention of senior officers in the general and flag ranks. The office is responsible for the processing of all Active, Reserve, and Guard officer promotion and appointment actions to the Secretary of Defense, the President, and the Senate.
