Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Readiness

The Assistant Secretary of Defense for Readiness (ASD(R)) serves as the principal advisor to the Secretary of Defense and the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness on all matters related to the readiness of the Total Force. The ASD(R) develops policies and plans, provides advice, and makes recommendations for readiness programs, reporting, and assessments to execute the National Defense Strategy.

Oversees readiness assessments and tools and warfighter development, offering the inputs needed to more effectively allocate resources in support of a ready and lethal Total Force.

Readiness Analytics

Equips leaders with data-driven decision superiority for the current and future force through innovation, technology, and policy oversight of the Defense Readiness Reporting System, safety and occupational health data, and predictive readiness analytics and reporting.

Safety and Occupational Health

Provides the guidance, information, and governance required to manage safety and occupational health risks and reduce mishaps, protecting our warfighters and civilians, preserving Strategic Readiness, and supporting national defense priorities.
