P&R ORGANIZATION

Manpower and Reserve Affairs

Manpower and Reserve Affairs directs overall policies and procedures of our Total Force manpower, personnel and reserve affairs. Look to us to deliver reliable and timely resources and information for leaders, service members, family members, service providers and volunteers. Each of our deputates provides unique resources, services and support to our diverse, unified military and civilian community. We deliver the information you need when you need it. Manpower and Reserve Affairs staff and leadership routinely engage Congress on a variety of issues impacting the Manpower and Reserve Affairs portfolio. We respond to numerous congressional inquiries each week and meet with members of Congress and professional staff members of key Defense committees on a regular basis to address major issues impacting our Total Force.

 

 

Health Affairs

The Military Health System (MHS) is one of America’s largest and most complex health care institutions, and the world’s preeminent military health care delivery operation. Our MHS saves lives on the battlefield, combats infectious disease around the world, and is responsible for providing health services through both direct care and Private Sector Care to approximately 9.6 million beneficiaries, composed of uniformed service members, military retirees, and family members.

 

The MHS enables the National Defense Strategy by providing a Medically Ready Force, a Ready Medical Force, and improving the health of all those entrusted to its care.

 

 

Readiness

The Assistant Secretary of Defense for Readiness is responsible for advising the Secretary of Defense, Deputy Secretary of Defense, and Under Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness) on key military readiness and training issues.

 

 

Office of Force Resiliency (OFR)

The mission of the Office of the Executive Director for Force Resiliency is to strengthen and promote the resiliency and readiness of the Total Force through the development of integrated policies, oversight, and synchronization of activities in the areas of diversity management and equal opportunity, personnel risk reduction, suicide prevention, sexual assault prevention and response, and collaborative efforts with the Department of Veterans' Affairs.

 

 

Defense Human Resources Activity

DHRA is a Department of Defense (DoD) Field Activity, of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness) (OUSD (P&R), Combating Trafficking in Persons Program Management Office leading the way for a number of key DoD Components and programs.
