Gender
The proportion of Selected Reserve accessions in FY 2002 who were women
was slightly greater (20 percent) than in the Active Components (17 percent).
Table 5.4 reflects the gender percentages for NPS and prior service accessions
by Component. The USAR and USAFR had the highest proportion of female
accessions in the Selected Reserve (26 and 28 percent, respectively),
while the USMCR had the lowest (5 percent). With the exception of the
USMCR, the proportion of prior service female recruits was lower than
NPS female recruits.
