The U.S. Department of Defense, AmeriCorps, Selective Service System, Peace Corps and U.S. Office of Personnel Management will host the Service for America Summit scheduled to gather leaders in support of advancing an agenda in developing short and long term actions to promote awareness, aspiration, and accessibility of military, national, and public service.

When to Arrive

Check-in will begin at 7:00 AM. Please arrive no later than 7:45 AM to allow for time to clear security. The event program will begin at 8:30 AM and conclude at 5:00 PM.

Accessing the Peace Corps Headquarters

The Peace Corps Headquarters is in a shared building. Access the building’s main lobby via the main entrance at 1275 First Street NE. A registration table with Peace Corps signage will be in the main lobby. After registering, guests will be escorted to the Peace Corps Headquarters on the second floor and go through security. Peace Corps staff will then direct guests to the event space.

Getting There and Parking

Transit

The closest Metro station is NoMa-Gallaudet U New York Ave. From the M St exit, turn right on M St and then right again on 1st St NE.

Parking
There are various paid parking lots and garages for guests who wish to drive to the event. The Peace Corps Headquarters parking garage entrance is located at 145 N Street NE. Payment is made with debit/credit card when exiting the parking garage. Other paid parking options are available in the surrounding neighborhood.

Defense Civilian Training Corps Kick-Off Marks Milestone in Strengthening DOD Civilian Acquisition Workforce

June 12, 2023 

On June 8, the Defense Department marked a new milestone in its commitment to modernizing the acquisition workforce with the launch of the Defense Civilian Training Corps. This pioneering initiative aims to prepare competitively selected students for public service in vital DOD acquisition-related occupations and improve talent readiness in DOD critical skill areas. The first cohort will begin in August 2023, and will comprise approximately 80 students from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Purdue University, the University of Arizona and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
