Mr. Harvey Johnson serves as the Director, Defense Travel Management Office (DTMO), a component of the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Personnel Policy, and the Defense Human Resource Activity.
A member of the Senior Executive Service, Mr. Johnson provides oversight for the Department’s single focal point for commercial travel, DTMO, in the areas of commercial travel management, travel policy and implementation, DoD travel charge card program management, customer support and training, functional oversight of the Defense Travel System, and station and housing allowances program management.
Mr. Johnson previously served as the Acting Director, DTMO, where he focused on transforming the Defense Travel Enterprise and allowance programs by simplifying outdated, complex policies and implementing affordable, efficient solutions. Mr. Johnson continues to seek ways to reduce the cost of travel for the Department and provide the traveler with an enriched experience.
A native of Philadelphia, Mr. Johnson’s career encompasses 26 years of service with the United States Army in the Infantry and Adjutant General Corps, and as a civilian with the Department of Defense.
Mr. Johnson holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science from Morgan State University and is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute, Charlottesville, VA.
His awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and Army Meritorious Service Medal (2 Awards).
